In Latvia, the first official croquet tournament under the supervision of the newly established Croquet Federation took place in 2010. The year after, Latvia was accepted as a member in both European and World Federations.
Currently there are around 70 players from Latvia represented in the world ranking list, among them around half are active players, playing on a regular basis. There are 5 croquet clubs in Latvia, with a membership base around 60 members. On average around 20-25 tournaments take place in Latvia every year, where more than 500 games are played.
Latvian players have participated in numerous international tournaments since then, including the World Team Championships, World Championships and several European Championships. In May 2016, the Latvian team won the third place at the World Team Championships Tier 2 in England thus acquiring number 11 in world rankings. Every year in September an international two-day Baltic Open Tournament takes place in Latvia where players from Norway, Russia, Germany, Switzerland, Spain, Sweden and Czech Republic have participated so far.
At the moment, there are only five croquet lawns in Latvia, which more or less correspond to international standards, and only one club which has two lawns at one place. The location of the lawns is: Ligatne – 2 lawns, Riga – 1 lawn, Ogre – 1 lawn, Milzkalne – 1 lawn.
